Before your business gets ‘back to business’ now that COVID-19 restrictions are loosening, it’s the perfect opportunity to consider giving your vinyl floors a clean and polish – or strip and seal, as it’s known in our industry.

In many ways, vinyl flooring is the perfect workplace floor finish. Vinyl floors are durable, long-wearing and they can generally camouflage most of the everyday grime that occurs from daily foot traffic.

Because vinyl floors are generally low-maintenance – unlike the staff room microwave – they are certainly not the squeaky wheel of the office cleaning routine! And their durability means they are sometimes neglected.

Over time, this can lead to a build up of grease, dust and dirt. If left untreated, the small cracks can be the perfect home for germs and other bacteria. Given that floors are unavoidably high traffic places, this can lead to unintentional cross-contamination between workplaces and the home.

Scheduling a strip and seal of your vinyl flooring is important for hygiene and maintenance. Shiny clean floors are aesthetically pleasing, but will also instantly restore that ‘wow factor’ to your workplace.

The team at Green House Services have years of experience working with these surfaces, and in most cases, we can restore your vinyl floors back to their former ‘showroom finish’ glory.

Our combination of technique, specialised equipment, and high-grade, eco-friendly cleaning products and sealant ensures a high-shine, finished surface that is never slippery or sticky. And we can do the job quickly and efficiently, with minimal disruption to your workplace.

We can offer great deals and packages on our strip and seal for vinyl flooring, whether you need a one-off clean or regular maintenance.

Right now, Green House Services is offering strip and seal packages for vinyl floors starting from under $10 per square meter.

If you’ve had to stop your regular cleaning service, what can you do?

We are getting asked this a fair bit right now.  We understand that for some of our clients, the impacts of the COVID-19 crisis have hit hard. For many of you small business owners, this has meant tackling those cleaning jobs – ones that are often outsourced to us – yourselves.

Times are tough for so many right now. The last thing you want is to add more to your To Do list with daily cleaning tasks. Important, yes – but often hard to fit in.

We get it. And when this crisis is over and you’re ready to outsource again, remember that we will still be here to help!

But in the meantime, here are a few tips from the team at Green House Services that may help you.

For those businesses still operating a shop front, it’s more than ever to maintain social distancing while still keeping shared spaces hygienic – for the health of both your employees and your clients.

While self-cleaning usually can’t produce all the same results, these three strategies may help you keep your business premises clean, and your team and clients happy.

Here’s a few of our top tips for helping during the transition:

  1. There’s a difference between cleaning and disinfecting – yes, there’s a big difference! If you’re currently operating your business without the benefit of a regular cleaning service such as Green House, it’s important to work out what needs to be cleaned, and what needs to be disinfected. You also need to consider the when, how and who for the cleaning jobs required – more on that below. As a result of COVID-19, Safe Work Australia has updated their information for employers on how to keep your workspaces safe. We suggest you start here if this is all new to you.

  1. Make sure shared surfaces are cleaned on a regular basis – this sounds like a no-brainer, right? But during a busy workday, it’s easy to get distracted. Especially when new tasks – such as wiping down door handles, taps, benchtops or light switches – are being added to your daily list. We suggest using a timer or other reminder system or app to ensure that shared surfaces are wiped down or disinfected as needed, and on a regular basis. Find a system that works for you and your team to ensure it’s done. Whatever your approach, develop a method and stick with it.

  1. Share the love – for the team at Green House Services, cleaning is our calling. But we know it isn’t everyone’s! Rather than give the daily cleaning jobs to just one team member – who may be thinking ‘This isn’t part of my job description!’ – share the jobs around. Create an hourly, daily or weekly roster where everyone is responsible for a certain aspect of the cleaning duties. It will help with morale, build comradery, and keep on top of the important jobs in maintaining the standards required for workplace hygiene during this pandemic.

Most important, remember that this is only temporary. As restrictions begin to ease in the coming weeks, your business trade should return to normal.
